new favourite blog of mine is the Daily Dog Tag which features all kinds of dogs and their stories. I was thrilled when the Daily Dog Tag asked about Gus who belongs to Trisha and Josh. I met Gus when I photographed Trisha and Josh's wedding and I had a huge crush on their sweet dog.
I absolutely LOVED Trisha and Josh's stylish colourful wedding! There were so many great personal details that made their wedding unique.
It will be obvious when you see my blog post about their day that I was really obsessed with 2 things; Their dog Gus whom we fell in love with immediately and Trisha's gorgeous teal shoes....oh and their ORANGE Vespa!
Gus is the sweetest little dog.
Loved Trisha's juicy colourful shoes and Josh's suit was AMAZING!
Gus getting a little pre-wedding stretch in.
Trisha and Josh brought their orange Vespa that they commute to work on together. I loved that it was something that is a part of their everyday together.
The groomsmen were so much fun and hilarious!
One of my favourite moments was when Josh walked down the aisle with his Mum. It was really sweet.
Their ceremony design was stunning.
Lynn Fletcher Weddings did an incredible job of creating a modern stylish design for the Cascade Ballroom at The Banff Springs.
A highlight of the reception was a 16 foot ice bar with 2 martini luges.
Trisha's brother created a custom design for the ice bar featuring who else Gus! It was etched with "Gustav's Icebar".
The observatory has never looked better.
Instead of a sit down dinner Trisha and Josh wanted to be able to visit and mingle with their friends and family so Lynn from Lynn Fletcher Weddings designed some finger foods that were passed throughout the evening. I particularly loved the tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwich presentation.

I
had to share this transformation of a room by Lynn Fletcher Weddings from a wedding that I photographed this week-end at The Banff Springs. Trisha and Josh had a 16 foot ice bar that featured two martini ice luges at either end just outside the Cascade Ballroom in the conservatory.
It was amazing seeing the room transform as the outside light got darker and the lighting started to glow. It was a great use of the space. The guests LOVED the ice bar and the lounge seating and lighting encouraged people to hang out together.
Lynn is the master of transforming spaces. She understands the power of using lighting and some pipe and drape to create focal points. Beyond the design of the decor though Lynn's designs are always thoughtful in terms of how a wedding really uses a space and she creates spaces that encourage guests to move throughout. Lynn also understands that having the right team in place is critical in making sure she can make a couple's vision come to life on time. The team from Stardust Event Group did an incredible job with the lighting and I love that they understand the importance of colours with regards to photography. As a photographer I really value professional lighting.
I thought I'd share some photos of the space the night of the wedding and what it looked like the next day so you can get a better idea of the transformation. I can't wait to share more from this wedding!
Frozen Memories created a 16 foot ice bar with martini luges at either end. The middle piece featured a custom design that read "Gustav's Icebar" a nice nod to Trisha and Josh's dog Gus.
November 28, 2010 · Weddings ♥ Banff Springs Wedding * Ainslie + Nelson ♥
A
inslie and Nelson could not of had a more stunning winter wedding day in Banff. Their intimate wedding at The Banff Springs included their closest friends and family and there was a warmth created during their ceremony that filled the room and made it a really special wedding to be witness to.
Ainslie and Nelson held their ceremony in the Angus room at The Banff Springs. The ceremony was so intimate and beautiful and included a personal ceremony from their hometown pastor and singing by the 20 guests that made it a joyous part of their ceremony.
Ainslie you looked GORGEOUS!!!
Ainslie absolutely made my photo day by bringing along her red coat for a few photographs. Bright colours look so incredible on winter wedding days. People often think of white for their winter weddings but that can make people fade into the snow, bright colours pop and look stunning.
Hair and Make-up by the sweet Stephanie of Styling Steph .
Ainslie used to work in a flower shop so flowers were important to her. I absolutely loved that each of the girls got their very own colourful bouquet. They were so beautiful designed by Kensington florist.
Ainslie travels a lot for her work. When I commented on all the stylish pieces she had for her wedding attire she told me she had collected pieces from all of her travels and just put them together on her wedding day. Everything worked beautifully. Loved the shoes she picked up in London.
Each guest received a gift basket put together by the couple that had everything one would need to be comfortable for the week-end in Banff. Guests will love you for including chapstick in their care package! It was a nice touch to help guests deal with our very dry climate.
Each and every guest was greeted by their very own flower in a vase with their name on it at their dinner seating.
I loved that Ainslie and Nelson invited guests back to the same room that they held their ceremony in for dinner. The Angus room had a beautiful long table filled with flowers. The warmth of the lights contrasted beautifully with the cool blue light from the snowy evening outside the stained glass windows. Andrew Ibanez played guitar for guests during the evening. It is the kind of wedding that would of been so cozy to be a guest at.
October 18, 2010 · Engagements ♥ Banff Engagement Photography * Jackie + Jason ♥
T
he chill in the air has me craving the sunny August morning we spent with Jackie and Jason for their engagement portraits in Banff. Jackie surprised me by bringing along a thoughtfully packed picnic for our photo session which was perfect since Jackie and Jason are passionate about enjoying good food. They met through mountain biking so it's fitting that shortly after our session they took off together for a downhill biking tour in Europe. They are a couple who knows how to live life with adventure and passion.
Jason's relative custom designed and created this necklace, as well as, the engagement ring for Jackie. I loved Jason's idea of placing it amongst the coal.
I am really looking forward to Jackie and Jason's unique wedding. They plan to have an outdoor ceremony in snowy December with a lantern lit ceremony surrounded by mountains. I can't even begin to imagine what it will be like to experience their day. I know it will be memorable.
