My heart is happy. Scott & Brandon's Marvel Pass heli-elopement was a gift! It was heartfelt & intimate and we couldn't of been more honoured to be asked to document this big day for them in the most epic setting. Fall was in full force in celebration of these two extraordinary people. The larches had transformed into their golden yellow just in time for Scott & Brandon's day in the mountains. It was beyond beautiful! At one point our skilled helicopter pilot checked in with us over the speaker because we were all stunned silent as he flew us alongside the massive towering glaciers, threaded the needle through mountain passes and over gem coloured lakes. It was overwhelming to see so much beauty. The mountains were showing off and they had a very appreciative audience in all of us.
If you've never been to the Canadian Rockies it would be easy to assume that the day we experienced is just what it looks like all the time. Scott & Brandon must of found it funny that every local they encountered on their wedding day felt the desperate need to express just how spectacular their day was. This moment in time when the larches turn their golden yellow is a time anticipated with excitement throughout the year by locals. You'll hear people exclaim in the post office "The larches are ready!" and scramble to find a hike to get up to see them in person.
Thank you Scott and Brandon for inviting us along to witness the moment you made your love official and became Mr & Mr amongst the mountains. Your day will forever remain in my heart.
Our skilled pilot flew us right through this opening in the mountain!
I loved that Scott & Brandon shared their personal vows to each other in private. Their words kept secret by the wind.
These two larch trees had just turned yellow and stood glowing as though they were perfectly placed pillars at the altar.
Barbara Parker has the heart of a poet and she crafted a ceremony that was incredibly moving and true to Scott & Brandon's love story. It was dizzinging to be in that place with these kind souls for it all felt surreal in it's perfection. My heart was bursting with joy and gratitude. It was all I could do not to be screaming in excitement. At one point I shared a look with Barbara and she laughed and stated "You are in your happy place!". She couldn't be more accurate. It was very special to share that experience with such wonderful people.
This is the closest I will come to feeling as though I have stepped into a Bond movie.
I found so much comfort in seeing these pristine places that no tour buses and likely very few (if any) people have touched.
I was so thankful that Scott & Brandon accepted my invitation to head up for a hike for more photos after we landed and they even slowed their pace to let me keep up!
