Kirstie and I had the best day starting with our favourite lunch at our all time favourite spot in the Canadian Rockies, Storm Mountain Lodge. Not only has Storm Mountain Lodge reopened safely, they have created a whole new and amazing experience. They really have excelled at adapting to our new reality and created such a lovely new take out window called Storm Cafe. It's such a sweet experience to walk up to the newly added take out window at the front of the incredible historical lodge. We got our favourite lunch, the bison burger which we wholeheartedly believe and trust to be the absolute best burger in the mountains and the setting could not have been more perfect with fresh mountain air, birds singing, and our dog Mabel at our side sitting at the freshly built picnic tables. All of their new details are incredibly thoughtful, I love that they have the best smelling locally made Rocky Mountain Soap Company hand sanitizer at each table. If you are looking for a world where social distancing is very much not an issue and for a place where you can take a moment to sit and watch nature in all of it's glory and get back to simpler times than this is the place for you. Definitely stop by for some great Kicking Horse Coffee and a croissant, or a bison burger perhaps, or even better perhaps a night's stay in one of their lovely cabins.
Storm Mountain Lodge is also a great location to grab a bite to eat before heading out on a hike as it is not far from many different hiking destinations. It's an easy drive to Lake Louise and Moraine Lake and that's exactly where we headed for the afternoon to take in some of the beautiful alpine scenery that boasted glaciers, freshly bloomed western anemones, marmots, and beautiful glacial streams.
