Located in the stunning Yoho National Park about an hour and 10 minute drive from Banff you'll find the aptly named Emerald Lake. Be on the lookout on your drive out for wildlife. We've seen bears, moose, elk and mountain goats on our way to Emerald Lake. Emerald Lake offers beautiful mountain views while you are canoeing. Depending on your timing you can enjoy lunch or dinner on the patio of Cilantro before or after your paddle.

Emerald Lake thaws and freezes at different times every year but generally speaking you can canoe at the end of May up until Canadian Thanksgiving week-end (first week-end in October) but it's best to call before making the drive out to make sure the canoes are out. The canoe dock closes for bad weather.

Rental canoes are available:

May-June: 10am - 5pm (**last canoe out at 4pm)

July-August: 9am - 7pm (**last canoe out at 5:45pm)

September: 10am - 5pm (**last canoe out at 4pm)

$70 for the 1st hour including tax

Canoes fit a maximum of 3 people and are first come first served. There are no reservations. There are 28 canoes available to rent.
